Joe Strummer, fue el solista y líder del grupo británico The Clash, banda, que surgió a mediados de los años 70 y fue considerada junto con los Sex Pistols la más importante del movimiento punk en el Reino Unido.
Su álbum 'London calling' fue calificado el mejor de la década de los 80 por la revista 'Rolling Stone'.
Strummer frecuentaba España, sobre todo Granada, donde trabó amistad con los miembros del grupo de rock 091, con quienes colaboró en algún disco.
Casado y padre de dos hijas, Joe Strummer murió en el 2002 a la edad de 50 años, a causa de un ataque cardiaco.
