Grupo de Manchester que en la década de los 90 empezó haciendo música dance. Pero a mediados de la década, tras perder su estudio y el material de su nuevo disco por un incendio, deciden poner fin a su trayectoria electrónica y colocarse al frente de instrumentos convencionales para dar un completo giro a su visión de la música, creando Doves y funcionando como una banda de rock.
Sus influencias pasan por la psicodelía de las bandas de los sesenta, King Crimson, New Order, Smiths, Stone Roses y Radiohead. Se les ha considerado como padres del pop épico o representantes de lo que se ha llegado a llamar pop existencial, junto a otras bandas encabezadas por Coldplay.
